China Central Bank Appoints Deputy Governor Pan Gongsheng as Communist Party Chief & to be Governor of People’s Bank of China

China central bank (Governor of People’s Bank of China, PBoC) has appointed Deputy Governor Pan Gongsheng as Communist Party Chief (China Party Secretary) and soon to be appointed as the Governor of People’s Bank of China (PBoC). Pan Gongsheng is taking over the role of Communist Party Chief from Guo Shuqing, and will replace Yi Gang (Governor of People’s Bank of China PBoC). Profile – Pan Gongsheng has been Deputy Governor of the People’s Bank of China (PBC) since 2012 and Administrator of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) since 2016. Before joining the PBC, Dr. Pan was Vice President of the Agricultural Bank of China, and worked at the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) for fifteen years serving in various roles. Dr. Pan received his Ph.D. in Economics from the Renmin University of China. He did his post-doctoral research at Cambridge University and was a senior research fellow at Harvard University.
