Malaysia 30-year-old Minister of Youth & Sports Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had been sentenced to 7 years jail and fined $2.1 million (MYR 10 million) for corruption (Criminal breach of trust, misappropriation of assets, money laundering). Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has received a stay of the sentence pending his appeal. Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman team in his defence, cited the funds were used to help the less fortunate during COVID-19 pandemic and for his election in 2018. Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was elected in the 2018 Malaysia election, running for the Muar parliamentary seat.
