Encyclopaedia Britannica (Britannica Group) has been reported to be planning for an IPO in June 2024 at $1 billion valuation after filing for a United States IPO in January 2024. Britannica Group owns brands including Britannica, Britannica Education, Dictionary Merriam-Webster & Melingo. 29th January 2024 – Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc. (Britannica Group) today announced that it confidentially submitted a draft registration statement on Form S-1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), relating to the proposed initial public offering of its common stock. The number of shares to be offered by Britannica Group and Encyclopaedia Britannica Holding, S.A., the sole stockholder of Britannica Group, and the price range for the proposed offering have not yet been determined. The initial public offering is expected to take place after the SEC completes its review process, subject to market and other conditions.
