UK Tech billionaire Mike Lynch (Age 59) Bayesian superyacht sank by storm has been recovered and will be sent for inspection. In 2024 August, UK tech billionaire Mike Lynch, his daughter Hannah Lynch & Morgan Stanley International Chairman Jonathan Bloomer died in the sinking of Bayesian Superyacht in Italy caused by a storm (19/8/24). The superyacht is owned by Mike Lynch wife Angela Bacares. 7 died & 15 survived from 22 crew & passengers. Mike Lynch is founder of software company Autonomy, which was sold to Hewlett Packard for $11.7 billion in 2011 and received £500 million from the sale. Mike Lynch won United States fraud trial in 2024 June for inflating value of Autonomy. Autonomy ex-CFO Sushovan Hussain was sentenced to 5 years jail for fraud in 2018. In 2025 May, UK Tech Billionaire Mike Lynch Bayesian Superyacht Sank by Storm UK Interim Report – A sudden increase in wind speed had caused the yacht to heel to over 90 degrees in less than 15 seconds, and sank around 18 minutes later. Bayesian was built in 2008 by Italy luxury yacht maker Perini Navi, and Bayesian builder Italian Sea Group CEO Giovanni Costantino had described the Bayesian superyacht as basically unsinkable & one of safest boats in the world. A diver had been killed (9/5/25) during the salvage operation. The UK interim report had also stated the yacht is vulnerable to violent winds, wind speeds in excess or lower of 117 km / hour on beam can topple yacht with retractable keel raised, irrecoverable if yacht heeled beyond 70 degrees, and yacht 72 metres aluminium mast (world’s tallest) accounted for half the force to topple the boat onto side.
