United States railroad giant Union Pacific Corp ($131 billion market value) has announced to buy Norfolk Southern Corp for $85 billion in cash & share deal, representing +25% premium to 30-day Volume Weighted Average Price (16/7/25) to create a $250 billion giant. Norfolk Southern was founded in 1982 with the merger of Norfolk & Western Railway (N&W) and Southern Railway. Union Pacific Corp was founded in 1969 (Original company Union Pacific Railroad founded in 1862).
