Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has hired JP Morgan Chief China Economist Zhu Haibin as Executive Director (Research), responsible for research relating to macroeconomics & financial stability (effective 1/10/25). Zhu Haibin was JP Morgan Chief China Economist & Head of Greater China Economic Research, and Bank for International Settlements (BIS) Senior Economist. HKMA (1/8/25): “The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today (1 August) that the Financial Secretary, on the advice of the Governance Sub-Committee of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee, has approved the appointment of Mr Zhu Haibin as Executive Director (Research) with effect from 1 October 2025. As Executive Director (Research), Mr Zhu will be responsible for research relating to macroeconomics and financial stability.” Zhu Haibin – Mr Zhu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Management from Peking University, a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the Graduate School of People’s Bank of China and a PhD in Economics from Duke University. He has extensive experience in economic research, with expertise including policy research on macroeconomics and financial stability in the Mainland of China and Hong Kong. Currently, Mr Zhu is a Managing Director, Chief China Economist and Head of Greater China Economic Research at J.P. Morgan. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, he was a Senior Economist at the Bank for International Settlements.
