Qatar $530 billion sovereign wealth fund Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is reported to be planning for restructuring into 2 units with 1) Foreign portfolio & 2) Domestic portfolio. Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) – Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is the sovereign wealth fund of the State of Qatar. QIA was established in 2005 to protect and grow Qatar’s financial assets and to diversify the economy. QIA is the wealth manager for the State of Qatar that invests the State’s surpluses to ensure the prosperity of future generations. Therefore, our overarching objective is to create long-term value as an investor. In addition, QIA has two objectives in supporting Qatar’s economy today. We provide liquidity when needed to stabilize the local economy, and support local economic development by investing in companies that fill market gaps. These objectives translate into a three-fold mandate for QIA that guides our strategy.
