United States online marketplace eBay ($39 billion market value) has announced to buy UK second hand fashion platform Depop for $1.2 billion from United States e-commerce company Etsy. Depop was founded in 2011 by Simon Beckerman, and acquired by Etsy in 2021. Depop – Depop is a circular fashion marketplace where anyone can buy, sell and discover desirable, affordable secondhand fashion. Since Depop was founded in 2011, our community of 43M registered users has helped popularise preloved fashion and drive forward resale culture, globally.
