United States asset manager Allspring Global Investments ($611 billion AUM) has announced to buy the investment team of United States fixed income investment firm GIA Partners ($1.1 billion AUM), founded in 2009 by CEO & CIO Eduardo Cortes (JP Morgan Asset Management Portfolio Manager & Chief Investment Officer of Global Investment Advisors at Reich & Tang Asset Management, Natixis).  Announcement (14/4/26): “Allspring Global Investments™, a global asset management firm with $628 billion* in assets under advisement, today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the investment team of GIA Partners, LLC, an investment firm with a proven track record in managing global credit portfolios. The GIA team, led by founder Eduardo Cortes, who has over four decades of experience in multi-sector fixed income and emerging market debt, will enhance Allspring’s investment platform and capabilities. From 1985 to 1998, Mr. Cortes worked at JPM and JPMIM where he was a portfolio manager in the fixed income group at JPMIM where he was responsible for dollar and non-dollar fixed income portfolios. During that time, he created and led the Emerging Market Debt portfolio team whose funds grew to more than $4 billion in assets. He was also a member of the Cross-Sector Strategy Team and the Emerging Market Equity/Debt Allocation Team. Prior to joining JPMIM, Mr. Cortes worked on debt restructuring for Latin American sovereigns at Citibank. Mr. Cortes received a BA from Stanford University in 1979 and an MBA from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1983. Mr. Cortes is fluent in Spanish.

5th April 2025 – United States asset manager Allspring Global Investments ($605 billion AUM) has appointed President Kate Burke as CEO (1/7/25) succeeding Joe Sullivan who will continue as Executive Chair.  Kate Burke has more than 20 years in asset management industry including as AllianceBernstein COO & CFO, and Head of Bernstein Private Wealth & Chief Administrative Officer.  Announcement (2/4/25): “Allspring Global Investment, a global asset management firm with $605 billion in assets under advisement, today announced that Kate Burke will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective July 1, 2025. Burke joined Allspring in 2023 as President and also began service as a Director on the company’s board. CEO Joe Sullivan will continue to serve as Executive Chair of the Board, working closely with Kate Burke and other leaders to drive the company’s strategy.  Burke has more than two decades of asset management industry experience.
