The European Securities & Markets Authority (ESMA) has raised concerns of high concentration of crypto trading in a few crypto exchanges, with the largest crypto exchange Binance processing around 50% of trades & 10 crypto exchange exchanges processing around 90% of trades.  In February 2024, Nigeria instructed telecoms companies to block access to major cryptocurrency exchange websites including Binance, Coinbase & Kraken.  The Nigeria national currency (Nigerian Naira) has depreciated by more than 70% against USD since the currency peg was removed in 2023 June.  Earlier in January 2024, India Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) informed India Ministry of Information to block access to 9 crypto exchange websites, and issued compliance notices to crypto platforms including to Binance, Huobi, Kraken & KuCoin for non-registration of entities & complying with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Financing of Terrorism (CFT).  Financial Intelligence Unit – India (FIU-IND) is the central, national agency responsible for receiving, processing, analyzing and disseminating information relating to suspect financial transactions to enforcement agencies and foreign FIUs.
