Malaysia government $1 billion private equity group Ekuinas Nasional will be investing $170 million (MYR 800 million) into private credit to support the growth & needs of high-potential & high-growth companies. Ekuinas Nasional is founded in 2009 as a Malaysia government-linked private equity company that aims to create Malaysia’s next generation of leading companies whilst promoting equitable and sustainable Bumiputera wealth creation and economic participation.

About Ekuiti Nasional Berhad – Ekuiti Nasional Berhad, or Ekuinas, is a private equity fund management company established by the Government of Malaysia on 1 September 2009. Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (Ekuinas) is a government-linked private equity company that aims to create Malaysia’s next generation of leading companies whilst promoting equitable and sustainable Bumiputera wealth creation and economic participation. The Company’s primary objective is to deliver financial value on its investments to ensure its social objective is achieved in a sustainable manner. To date, Ekuinas has undertaken 71 investments, out of which 48 are direct investments and 23 made through Outsourced Fund Managers. Key target sectors include education, fast moving consumer goods, oil and gas, retail, healthcare, and manufacturing. Ekuinas was shortlisted as one of the Top 3 Southeast AsianFirms of the Year by the Private Equity International (PEI) Awards for the year 2018 and 2019. The Government provides funds to Ekuinas in the form of a grant to be held in trust by Yayasan Ekuiti Nasional (YEN), a specific trust foundation whose mandate is to enhance and grow Bumiputera equity interest. The funds held under YEN are directed into Ekuinas Capital Sdn Bhd, also known as Ekuinas Capital, which serves as the designated fund capital company. Ekuinas functions as the private equity company managing these funds and the operating entity where the management team resides. Both Ekuinas and Ekuinas Capital are wholly owned subsidiaries of YEN and strive to fulfill the mission of promoting equitable, effective and enhanced Bumiputera economic participation by focusing on both financial and social objectives.
