HSBC Asset Management ($712 Billion AUM) has hired Schroders 11-year veteran Evon Liang as Head of Partnerships Distribution, Wholesale Business for Southeast Asia.  Evon Liang has 21 years of financial industry experience at Schroders (Deputy Head of Intermediary Business Singapore), UOB, OCBC & DBS.  In 2024 May, HSBC Asset Management appointed CEO of Japan Masayuki Kaneko with the additional role as Head of Institutional Sales for North Asia succeeding Brenda Wong, Jasmine Hung appointed as acting Hong Kong CEO, and Taiwan EVP & Head of Client Coverage Chris Lin appointed as acting General Manger & CEO succeeding Hsien Chiao.  Masayuki Kaneko with his additional role as Head of Institutional Sales for North Asia, will cover Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, Korea & Japan.  Based in Japan, Masayuki Kaneko reports to HSBC Japan President & CEO Edward Weeks and HSBC Asset Management APAC CEO Daisy Ho.  Masayuki Kaneko had joined HSBC Japan in 2013 as Deputy Head of Global Banking Japan, and was appointed as CEO Japan in 2020.  Jasmine Hung as acting Hong Kong CEO, reports to Daisy Ho (APAC CEO) and Maggie Ng (HSBC General Manager and Head of Wealth & Personal Banking Hong Kong).  Jasmine Hung is also currently the Head of Pensions Strategic Partnerships.  Chris Lin, Taiwan EVP & Head of Client Coverage and now acting General Manger & CEO, had joined HSBC Asset Management in 2021 to lead the institutional, wholesale businesses & client service teams.  In January 2024, HSBC Asset Management announced the appointment of Michael Cross as Chief Investment Officer Asia succeeding Cecilia Chan, with Michael Cross continuing his role as Global CIO of Fixed Income.
