Leading private equity firm KKR ($664 billion AUM) ex-CFO William (Bill) Janetschek has donated $32.5 million to United States St. John University to fund a new basketball practice facility ($25 million) & student scholarships ($7.5 million). William (Bill) Janetschek graduated from St. John University in 1984, and is the Chair of St. John Board of Trustees. William (Bill) Janetschek joined KKR in 1997, and was KKR CFO for 20 years retiring after 23 years in 2020. Announcement (12/6/25): “After decades of supporting Catholic education, William Janetschek is investing in its future at St. John’s University, unlike anyone has before. The Chair of St. John’s Board of Trustees and retired Chief Financial Officer of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P., Janetschek, gifted the university a $32.5 million donation last month, the largest in its 155-year history. A majority of the donation, $25 million, will fund a new practice facility for the men’s and women’s basketball teams, while the remaining $7.5 million will go toward student scholarships.” Profile – Founded in 1870, St. John’s is a Catholic and Vincentian university that prepares students for personal and professional success in today’s global society.
