The Switzerland parliament has voted (83% of 43 votes) against the proposed 50% tax on estates with more than CHF 50 million ($61 million), 36 voting against and 7 voting for 50% tax on estates with more than CHF 50 million ($61 million). Switzerland has no federal (Government) inheritance & gifts tax, but inheritance & gifts tax are applicable at Cantons (Districts / States) level. 2 (Obwalden & Schwyz) of 26 cantons in Switzerland do not have inheritance tax.
