Bordeaux Cellars founder & UK citizen Stephen Burton pleads guilty in United States court after United States New York prosecutors charged 2 UK citizens (Stephen Burton & disbarred lawyer James Wellesley) for $99.4 million fine wine investment fraud from over 140 investors (2017 to 2019) via Bordeaux Cellars by claiming to broker loans with regular interest payments to investors from non-existent borrowers (HNW wine collectors), with Bordeaux Cellars keeping custody of non-existent wine pledged as collateral. The defendants Stephen Burton & James Wellesley used the funds for investors payments & personal expenses. They solicited investors including at investor conferences.
