Hang Seng Indexes Company has launched 2 new Hang Seng TECH Index covered call strategy indexes with 1) HSTECH 15% Target Premium Weekly Covered Call Index (Long position + sell at-the-money weekly call options) with options premium reinvested & 2) HSTECH NTR 15% Target Premium Weekly Covered Call Index with options premiums & dividends reinvested. Announcement (11/8/25): “Hang Seng Indexes Company today launched two innovative covered call strategy indexes based on the Hang Seng TECH Index (‘HSTECH’): 1) HSTECH 15% Target Premium Weekly Covered Call Index, involves maintaining a long position in the HSTECH while selling a proportion of at-the-money weekly HSTECH call options. Option premiums generated are reinvested into the portfolio. 2) HSTECH NTR 15% Target Premium Weekly Covered Call Index is a net total return version where both option premiums and dividends are reinvested into the portfolio … … Being the first target premium covered call indexes under the Hang Seng Family of Indexes, these new indexes are strategically designed to retain part of the HSTECH’s upside potential while generating premium income through weekly call options. The proportion of options sold is adjusted flexibly each week to target an annual premium yield of 15%, without exceeding the notional value of HSTECH in the index. Back-testing data from the first seven months of 2025 shows that the HSTECH 15% Target Premium Weekly Covered Call Index achieved a total return of 22.5%, while the HSTECH NTR 15% Target Premium Weekly Covered Call Index recorded 23.6%. Their respective annualised volatility was 38.7% and 38.6%. Both indexes are calculated and disseminated in real time, with updates provided every two seconds.”
