5th November | Hong Kong

The Hong Kong 4th Global Financial Leaders Investment Summit 2025 took place from 3rd to 5th November 2025 in Hong Kong, and attended by around 300 global financial leaders including 100+ Group Chairmen & CEOs.  Key speakers include Hong Kong Chief Executive John LK Lee, HKMA Chief Executive Eddie Yue, The State Council of the People’s Republic of China Vice-Premier He Lifeng, UBS Chairman Colm Kelleher, BNP Paribas Chairman Jean Lemierre, General Atlantic Chairman William Ford, Goldman Sachs Chairman & CEO David Solomon, Morgan Stanley Chairman & CEO Ted Pick, Capital Group President & CEO Mike Gitlin, PIMCO CEO Emmanuel Roman, Blackstone President & COO Jon Gray, KKR Co-CEO Joe Bae, CVC CEO Rob Lucas, Carlyle CEO Harvey Schwartz, Amundi CEO Valérie Baudson, HSBC Group CEO Georges Elhedery, State Street Chairman & CEO Ronald P. O’Hanley, Bank of China Chairman & President Zhang Hui, TPG Executive Chairman Jim Coulter, Brookfield Chairman & CEO Bruce Flatt, Macquarie Group CEO Shemara Wikramanayake, HSG Founding & Managing Partner Neil Shen, Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson, JP Morgan Vice Chairman Daniel Pinto, Standard Chartered Bank Group CEO Bill Winters, BlackRock Chairman & CEO Larry Fink, Citadel Founder & CEO Ken Griffin & many more.  Announcement (4/11/25): “The main session of the Global Financial Leaders’ Investment Summit (Summit), organised by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), successfully concluded today (4 November). The event brought together approximately 300 global financial leaders, including over 100 group chairmen or CEOs.  The theme of this year’s Main Summit is “Trekking through Shifting Terrain”.  Mr He Lifeng, Vice Premier of the State Council, delivered an opening keynote at the Main Summit by video.  It was followed by discussions on key recent developments in global economy and trade, financial markets, as well as technology and innovation.  Speakers focused on how the global financial community can navigate through the shifting landscape to capture opportunities, while staying vigilant of the evolving risks.  The event attracted global financial leaders across a wide range of sectors, including banks, securities firms, asset owners, asset managers, private equity and venture capital firms, hedge funds and insurers. The event was also live-streamed and replay is available on the HKMA’s website.  The three-day Summit commenced with a welcome dinner at the Hong Kong Palace Museum yesterday (3 November) and will conclude tomorrow (5 November) with the “Conversations with Global Investors” investment forum co-organised by the HKMA, the Securities and Futures Commission and the Hong Kong Academy of Finance.”  Announcement (27/10/25): “The Global Financial Leaders’ Investment Summit, our flagship financial event, will take place for the fourth consecutive year from 3 to 5 November 2025.    In a week’s time, around 300 global financial leaders, including more than 100 group chairmen or CEOs, will be assembling in Hong Kong for the Summit.  Following tradition, guests will gather for a welcome dinner on the opening evening, before proceeding to the Main Summit on the following day.  On the third day, the HKMA, the Securities and Futures Commission and the Hong Kong Academy of Finance will co-host an investment forum “Conversations with Global Investors”.  The theme this year is “Trekking through Shifting Terrain”.  Those who know Hong Kong well would notice that a dense network of hiking trails—from green hills to coastal trails and jungle paths—threads through this compact city.  And just as hiking demands an eye on the weather, a change of terrain, and on-the-spot problem-solving, navigating today’s shifting geoeconomic climate as a financial leader calls for risk awareness, prudent preparation, agility and resilience.  In a year marked by trade policy shifts, rising debt levels and slowing growth, financial leaders and regulators alike find themselves trying to stay afoot in an ever-changing landscape.  Against this backdrop, financial leaders at the Main Summit will explore the key trends and developments across the macroeconomic, trade and digital space over the year, and the most prominent opportunities and risks arising across different financial markets, asset classes and regions in the years to come.  Building on the topics of the Main Summit, the “Conversations with Global Investors” forum will delve into the latest trends, risks and opportunities across global investment markets.  In just three years since we held our first Summit, Hong Kong has come a long way.  The capital markets are booming, investments and capital are flowing into our banks, and the streets are once again bustling with life—all of which we do not take for granted, especially against an increasingly uncertain geoeconomic landscape.  When we first launched the Summit in 2022, the vision was to invite leaders to see for themselves the resilience, the vibrancy and the opportunities this city offers.  While this goal remains, it is encouraging to see the Summit maturing into a go-to forum for world leaders in finance to come together and map our way through these uncharted and shifting times.  The team is hard at work and preparations are humming along.  We look forward to welcoming both old friends and new at the Summit.”  View: Summit Programme

23rd October 2024 – Hong Kong is hosting the 3rd Global Financial Leaders Investment Summit in November 2024 (18th to 20th November 2024), with speakers from Citi, HSBC, Standard Chartered, UBS, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, BNP Paribas, MUFG, Bank of China, Pictet, BlackRock, Capital Group, Invesco, Hamilton Lane, State Street, Blackstone, KKR, Apollo, Carlyle, TPG, Oaktree, HKEX, Alibaba Group & Fung InvestmentsHong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) (21/10/24): “The HKMA will host the third Global Financial Leaders’ Investment Summit in less than a month’s time.  The first Summit in 2022 demonstrated that Hong Kong had emerged from the pandemic and returned to the world stage.  The second Summit held last year was the landmark event celebrating the HKMA’s 30th anniversary.  Both summits garnered enormous support and active participation from financial institutions around the world.  Financial leaders who attended spoke highly of the summits, hoping that we will continue to host them in the future.  The Summit has made a name for itself and become a respected brand in the global financial world.  It has even become part of the annual visit plans of many financial leaders.  With that in mind, we have decided to organise the Summit annually as a high-level flagship financial event in the Asia Pacific region.  This year’s Summit will take place from 18 to 20 November.  A welcome dinner will be held in the evening of 18 November, followed by the main summit on the next day and an investment forum jointly organised by the HKMA, the Securities and Futures Commission and the Hong Kong Academy of Finance on the third day.  We expect to welcome several hundred financial leaders to the Summit, including over 100 group chairmen or CEOs, some of whom will be participating for the third time in a row.  The theme of the main summit, “Sailing through Changes”, is intended to capture the cacophony of changes in macro environment, geopolitics, technological innovation and the climate, and how the international financial community should continue to explore new opportunities by managing risks and embracing changes.  Extending the discussions at the main summit, the “Conversations with Global Investors” investment forum on the following day will discuss the latest developments in different investment markets.  Participating leaders will focus on a number of important issues over the two days: 1) Navigating a complex world – Sharing thoughts and insights on the far-reaching implications on policy decisions, cross-border trade and investment, and financial markets brought about by ongoing geopolitical conflicts, the global elections cycle, the climate crisis, trade fragmentation, and so on.  2) Market trends and opportunities – Exchanging views on how investors should manage the risks, formulate their long-term asset allocation strategies and capture the most compelling market opportunities against a background of diverging paths of growth, inflation and monetary policy around the world. 3) Financial developments on the Mainland – Analysing the Mainland’s economic conditions, related policies and development opportunities, in the context of the recent announcement of stimulus package by Mainland authorities. 4) Investment opportunities and strategies in Asia – Assessing the key development trends, growth drivers and investment opportunities amid the challenges and risks facing Asia. 5) Prospects of alternative assets and private markets – Sharing views on the trends, opportunities and challenges in alternative asset and private market investing against a backdrop of macroeconomic headwinds, higher financing costs and global uncertainties. 6) Opportunities and risks in the new era of technology – Sharing insights into the application of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, digitalisation, big data, machine learning and so on, how the industry can innovate while harnessing their potential responsibly, and the prospects of crypto assets and tokenisation in traditional finance.  These subjects will all have far-reaching implications for the global economy and international financial markets.  The invaluable insights to be shared by the participants will provide plenty of food for thought as we ponder how to maintain Hong Kong’s financial stability, consolidate and develop the financial sector, and leverage the power of finance in supporting economic development amid an increasingly complex external environment.  Apart from sharing their insights, we will provide an opportunity for our guests to immerse themselves in the vibrancy and diversity of our local culture.  For this year’s welcome dinner, we will move across the harbour from the West Kowloon Cultural District to a new landmark building in Central.  This allows our guests to appreciate the spectacular skyline and dynamic cityscape of Hong Kong from a different angle, while savouring dishes that incorporate traditional Chinese, Western and unique local elements alongside an exciting programme – showcasing Hong Kong’s unparalleled charm as Asia’s world city.  Preparation for the Summit is well under way.  We look forward to welcoming financial leaders from across the world.”

“We are encouraged by the overwhelming responses from both the international and local financial communities.  The Summit demonstrated the global financial sector’s commitment to Hong Kong.  My sincere thanks to all our Summit participants, especially those travelling from abroad.  We are excited to see our Summit participants and visitors benefiting from this occasion by reconnecting with their staff, clients and stakeholders in Hong Kong and in person.  We look forward to seeing more events and activities taking place in the coming months as Hong Kong continues to open up.  In view of the success of the Summit, we plan to host the Summit again next year, also to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the HKMA.”

Hong Kong Global Financial Leaders Investment Summit 2022:

On 1 November, the three-day event commences with a welcome dinner at M+, followed by the Summit with speeches, panel discussions, and a fireside chat on 2 November. The Summit will officially wrap up on 3 November with a programme of “Conversations with Global Investors”, co-hosted by the Hong Kong Academy of Finance.

The 2 November Summit discussed how to navigate the uncertainties brought by rising interest rates and the risk of stagflation, complicated by geopolitical tensions and the lingering impact of the pandemic.  The speakers explored how the two global mega trends, technology and sustainability, would impact the future of finance.  Senior representatives from Mainland regulators shared their insights and perspectives on the Mainland economy and the opportunities arising from the continued opening up of the Mainland financial markets.

The 3 November “Conversations with Global Investors” seminar, jointly organised by the HKMA and the Hong Kong Academy of Finance, featured eight of the world’s top investment management firms.  It focused on the global investment outlook and explored how investors should position themselves to manage risks and capture future opportunities under the current investment landscape.
