Creditors had seized equity of The Lycra Company in 2022 after defaults by then-owner Ruyi Textile and Fashion International Group. The Lycra Company was founded in 1958 as part of DuPont de Nemours. Spandex was invented by Joseph Shivers at DuPont. Spandex means expands.
