JP Morgan corporate running series JPMorganChase Corporate Challenge 21st edition in Singapore was held on 16th April 2026, joined by 13,500 participants from 438 companies.  The annual series of 3.5-mile (5.6 km) running distance started 50 years ago in 1977 (New York City, Central Park), and is now held in 16 locations (APAC: Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Sydney) in 8 countries.  JPMorganChase (for Singapore) will make donation to the non-profit group HWA (Previously Handicaps Welfare Association).  1977 – On July 13, 1977, the very first Manufacturers Hanover Corporate Challenge took place in New York’s Central Park, drawing 200 participants from 50 companies. Those early runners could not have imagined how far the event would grow.  But July 13, 1977 is also remembered as the night of the New York City Blackout, when lightning strikes cut power across Manhattan and much of the city. Lights did not return until the following day.  1978 – Manufacturers Hanover, a predecessor of JPMorganChase, was an early sponsor of the New York City Marathon. The partnership was strong, but leadership saw an opportunity to create a shorter race that more of its business clients could join.  The Corporate Challenge distance was set at 3.5 miles. Why that length? It matched two laps of Central Park’s southern loop and gave the event a distinctive character. Running was booming, and 5Ks (3.1 miles) were held most weekends. But the 3.5-mile Corporate Challenge, on a weeknight and in a team format, was something different.  1979 – By its third year in Central Park, the Corporate Challenge was gaining momentum. A total of 2,300 participants from 197 companies registered, ten times more than the year before.  Fred Lebow, the legendary New York City Marathon race director, guided the course planning in Central Park and saw the potential. Manufacturers Hanover was well positioned to help companies build connections and healthier workplace cultures. It was time to take the event on the road.
