United States commission-free brokerage Robinhood ($69 billion market value) has launched Agentic AI for trading (Beta) & credit card (Agentic Trading & Agentic Credit Card) to allow AI agents to make investment trade & credit card purchases for customers with pre-determined instructions. Announcement (27/5/26): “The future of agentic finance has arrived at Robinhood. Today, we’re launching Agentic Trading and the Agentic Credit Card, enabling AI agents to trade and make credit card purchases on your behalf. Whether you’re looking to execute a specific trading strategy, or simply buy the cheapest flight available, you can build agents to help manage your investments and spending safely and autonomously. Agentic Trading
Agents can now access the power of Robinhood’s trading platform. You can open a dedicated agentic trading account separate from the rest of your portfolio, meaning your agent only has access to the funds you deposit into that account. You’ll get push notifications any time your agent makes a trade and can see a real-time activity feed and P&L directly in the Robinhood apps. If you ever need to pause trading, you can disconnect the agent at any time with the tap of a button.
Your agent can define strategies based on your investing and trading goals in your Agentic Trading account. For example:
- A long-term investor can have their agent analyze their portfolio for concentration risk and sector exposure, identify where they’re over or underweight, and execute a rebalance.
- A thematic investor with conviction in AI or semiconductors can have an agent build an initial portfolio matching their criteria, monitor the space for new entrants and analyst upgrades, and rebalance toward the strongest opportunities at a regular cadence.
- An active trader can backtest a mean reversion strategy to see how it performed historically, and deploy it to automatically buy oversold stocks and sell when they revert to the mean.
- Agentic Trading is launching in beta with support for equities only out of the gate. Support for options, crypto, event contracts, futures, and more are coming soon as we move out of beta.
Agentic Credit Card
As one of the first products of its kind, the Agentic Credit Card empowers your agents to spend on your behalf by connecting them to Robinhood Banking’s MCP server. During setup, you’ll connect your agent to a dedicated virtual Robinhood Gold Card, set a specific spending limit that only you control and choose whether to require manual approvals or not. By default, agents are restricted to that individual virtual card only, with no access to your primary credit card number or any other Robinhood account information.
Once up and running, the agent can scan for the best prices, monitor availability, and make purchases automatically based on your instructions, all while earning 3% cash back.
Instead of spending hours researching and tracking prices, your agent can handle it for you. You tell it what to shop for and at what price before it takes action. For example:
- A sneakerhead can tell their agent to buy a coveted new release in their size whenever it drops below $300.
- A foodie can instruct their agent to book the most exclusive restaurant reservation in town as soon as their preferred date and time becomes available.
- A small business owner can use their agent to fill multi-item order lists (e.g. buy me the ingredients to make a custom cake without spending more than $50), or even buy a website domain.
- A pet owner could ask their agent to buy a highly rated item on Amazon (e.g. buy me a 5-star rated, durable dog toy for no more than $30) to avoid endless searching.
Like agentic trading, we’ve designed the agentic card experience with safety and control as the top priority. You can choose to set monthly limits, view your expense history directly in the Robinhood Banking app, and can also simply delete the virtual card at any time with the tap of a button.
The Agentic Credit Card is available to existing Robinhood Gold Card customers, with support for the Robinhood Platinum Card to follow when the card launches later this year.
Safety-Always Approach
Autonomous trading and spending doesn’t mean surrendering control over your finances. We’ve approached this launch with a safety-always mindset, ensuring customers maintain oversight over their agents 24/7. In addition to spending controls, limited account access, and the ability to instantly disable your agents, we also offer:
- Fraud Detection: If a trade or payment looks off, Robinhood’s support team can review exactly what you asked the agent to do, see what it actually did, and help you quickly resolve any disputes.
- Manual Approvals: Opt in to manually approve every credit card purchase before it goes through.
- Preview Trades: When appropriate, agents will preview orders with customers whenever they ask to place a trade so customers can see all the details of the order before it’s processed.
