Germany financial regulator (BaFin) has imposed stricter oversight & limits on Germany digital bank N26 including ban on new mortgages in Netherlands & increase in capital requirement. A 2024 special audit on N26 had uncovered serious deficiencies in risk management, complaint handling & lending business. N26 was founded in 2013 by Valentin Stalf & Maximilian Tayenthal, and has raised $1.8 billion in funding. N26 investors include Allianz, GIC, Tencent & Earlybird.
