5th Asia Insurance CIO Technology Summit – An Innovative CIO as the Game Changer
The 5th Asia Insurance CIO Technology Summit hosted by Asia Insurance review was held at Mandarin Orchard Hotel Singapore on the 5th and 6th September 2016.
David Piesse, Chief Risk Officer of Guardtime, opened the session highlighting the importance of technology which will shift the industry into InsurTech with the use of digitalisation and blockchain. Prashanth Agarwal, the Director of AIA EDGE (Group Innovation), also discussed InsurTech’s emergence and its impact for insurers.
As the industry moves into digitalisation, there is an increasing trend in the use of interactive mobile applications especially by the millennials.
Rocky Scopelliti, Global Industry Executive of Banking, Finance & Insurance Global Industry of Telstra, mentioned that there are approximately 450 mobile applications for retail banking with total revenue of USD 100 billion.
The new generation (millennials) plays an important role in contributing to the growth of InsurTech, highlighting the importance of personalisation and customer experience delivered by the interactive mobile insurance. licit
Following the talks, Asia Insurance Review announced the winners from 6 categories competed on Asia Insurance Technology Awards (AITA). There was also some case study discussions conducted by some of the winners — AXA Asia, Liberty Videocon General Insurance, Everledger, Max Life Insurance, AXA Hong Kong, and Ping An Property & Casualty Insurance Company of China.
