$562 Billion Asset Manager Aberdeen Standard Investments Appoints René Buehlmann as New APAC CEO

Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI), the UK global asset manager with more than $562 billion AUM (Assets under Management), has appointed René Buehlmann as the new Asia-Pacific CEO, effective on the 1st of March 2021. René Buehlmann succeeds Hugh Young, who will take on his new role as Aberdeen Standard Investments Chairman of Asia.

René Buehlmann as Asia-Pacific CEO will drive Aberdeen Standard Investments business in the region by accelerating growth in Asia-Pacific through Aberdeen Standard Investments’ global investment capabilities. Based in Singapore, he will join the Executive Leadership Team and report to Stephen Bird, CEO of Standard Life Aberdeen.
René Buehlmann, 30 Years in Global Wealth & Asset Management
René Buehlmann has over 30 years experience in global wealth and asset management, corporate banking and financial markets, including 29 years with UBS.
At UBS, he was most recently the Head of Asset Management Asia Pacific and Global Head of Wholesale Client Coverage.
Hugh Young, New Chairman of Aberdeen Standard Investments, Asia
Current CEO Hugh Young, in his role as Chairman Asia of Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI), will continue to champion ASI’s business in the region.
He will provide strategic counsel to René and retain his director positions on fund and UK investment trust boards.
