Twitter and Square founder Jack Dorsey has acquired Australia fintech company Afterpay for $29 billion under leading fintech company Square Inc, turning Afterpay founders into billionaires with $1.8 billion each.   Afterpay was founded by Australian Sydney neighbours Anthony Eisen and Nick Molnar in 2015 to allow customers to “buy now, pay later” – splitting the purchase into 4 interest-free payment.  The Square Inc $29 billion acquisition of Afterpay is in an all-equity deal (share swap) in August 2021, with Afterpay founded only 7 years ago in 2015 and listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) in 2016.

Majority of Afterpay revenue is derived from merchants.
