IMD has released the World Competitiveness Ranking for 2022, reviewing performance of 63 economies in the world with the top 5 most competitive countries being: #1 Denmark, #2 Switzerland, #3 Singapore, #4 Sweden & #5 Hong Kong. Denmark is ranked #1, the most competitive country in 2022 (GDP of $397 billion, population of 5.84 billion). The world largest economy United States ($21 trillion GDP) is ranked #10, 2nd largest economy China ($14 trillion GDP) is ranked #17 and the 3rd largest economy Japan ($5 trillion GDP) is ranked #34. 5 countries / economies in Asia-Pacific are in the Top 20: Singapore (3rd), Hong Kong SAR (5th), Taiwan, China (7th), China (17th), Australia (19th). The ranking reviewed 63 economies in the world, excluding Russia and Ukraine due to limited reliability of data collected. The data were grouped into 4 factors for the ranking: Economic Performance, Government Efficiency, Business Efficiency, Infrastructure).
