Crypto Exchange Crypto.com Sues Australian Sisters to Recover $10.4 Million Error Payment Instead of $100, Used $1.35 Million to Buy House in Melbourne

Crypto exchange Crypto.com has sued Australian sisters to recover $10.4 million of error payment made Instead of $100, with the recipient (Thevamanogari Manivel) using $1.35 million to buy a house in Melbourne (Australia). Crypto exchange Crypto.com failed to spot the error until an audit 7 months later, with the error payment identified in May 2021 ($100 Payment to Thevamanogari Manivel, but had entered account number into payment amount field) and Thevamanogari Manivel receiving $10,474,143 from Crypto.com in error. The Supreme Court of Victoria (Australia) had granted freezing orders in February 2022 on the bank account (Thevamanogari Manivel) but discovered that most of the money had been transferred, including to her sister Gangadory Manivel.
