India veteran banker & former CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Rana Talwar (Gurvirendra Singh Talwar) has died at the age of 76 (1948 to 2024, 27/1/24).  Rana Talwar had started his career at Citibank, and built & led Citibank retail businesses in APAC, Middle-East, Europe & United States.  In 1996, Rana Talwar joined Standard Chartered Bank as Global CEO, becoming the first Asian & Indian to lead a major bank.  In 2002, Rana Talwar left Standard Chartered Bank and founded private equity firm Sabre Capital Worldwide, which subsequently acquired Centurion Bank (Subsequently sold & merged into India’s largest bank HDFC Bank).   Rana Talwar is the son-in-law of DLF Group Chairman Emeritus K P Singh.  DLF Group is the largest publicly listed real estate company in India.  DLF Group is founded in 1946 by Chaudhary Raghvendra Singh, DLF started with the creation of 22 urban colonies in Delhi. In 1985, the company expanded into the then-unknown region of Gurugram, creating exceptional living and working spaces for the new Indian global professionals. Today, DLF is the largest publicly listed real estate company in India, with residential, commercial, and retail properties in 15 states and 24 cities.
