Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC & alternative asset-servicing solutions provider Citco Group of Companies have formed a strategic partnership, with GIC investing for a minority stake in Citco. The founder Smeets family remains as a majority shareholder. Citco was founded in 1948 by the Smeets Family. Citco is the acronym for Curacao International Trust Co. Curacao is a constituent Caribbean island of the Netherlands. Announcement (13/5/25): “The Citco group of companies (Citco) and GIC are pleased to announce that they have entered a long term, strategic relationship. As part of the relationship, GIC, a global institutional investor, has become a minority shareholder in Citco. The founding Smeets Family shall remain the majority shareholder in Citco.” Citco – The Citco group of companies (Citco) is a network of independent companies worldwide. These companies are leading providers of asset-servicing solutions to the global alternative investment industry.
