United States cybersecurity company Proofpoint has announced to buy Hornetsecurity for $1 billion. Hornetsecurity was founded in 2007 in Germany by Daniel Hofmann & Oliver Dehning. Proofpoint was founded in 2002 by ex-Netscape CTO Eric Hahn, and IPO in 2012. In 2021, Proofpoint was acquired for $12.3 billion by private equity firm Thoma Bravo.
