Qatar wealth fund Qatar Holding is selling 361.7 million of Barclays sharesvalued at $640 million (£510 million).Qatar Holding, owned by Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), had invested around $5 billion (£4 billion) in Barclays during the 2008 Global Financial Crisis and allowing Barclays avoided a UK government bailout.Barclays has a current market capitalization of $27.5 billion (6/12/23).In Novmember 2023, UK bank Barclays was reported to be planning to cut 2,000 jobs in a $1.25 billion (£1 billion) cost-cutting drive.Barclays has around 87,000 global workforce with 44,000 employees in the United Kingdom (UK).

25th November 2023 – UK bank Barclays is planning to cut2,000 jobs in a $1.25 billion (£1 billion) cost-cutting drive. Barclays has around 87,000 global workforce with 44,000 employees in the United Kingdom (UK), and a current market capitalization of around $26 billion (24/11/23). In October 2023, the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) had fined former Barclays CEO James Staley $2.1 million (£1.8 million) and banned from holding senior management or influential function in the financial industry for providing misleading statements on close relationship with Jeffrey Epstein in sexual abuse case.
