The Hong Kong Securities & Futures Commission (SFC) CEO Julia Leung has been appointed as Chair of Asia-Pacific Regional Committee of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (ISOCO), with the 2-year term starting in May 2024 at the IOSCO annual meeting. Announcement: “The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) welcomes the appointment of its Chief Executive Officer, Ms Julia Leung, as the Chair of the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee (APRC) of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) (Notes 1 and 2). Her two-year term will start on the date of the IOSCO Annual Meeting in May 2024. IOSCO is the international body that brings together the world’s securities regulators and is recognised as the global standard setter for the securities sector. Its membership regulates more than 95% of the world’s securities markets in more than 130 jurisdictions. The APRC is one of four regional committees constituted by IOSCO to focus on regional issues relating to securities regulation. It consists of 21 jurisdictions in the Asia-Pacific region as well as nine non-voting members. Information about IOSCO APRC membership is available at its website.
