China autonomous driving tech company Horizon Robotics has filed for a Hong Kong IPO (26/3/24) and targeting to raise $500 million. Horizon Robotics current market valuation is around $7 billion. Horizon Robotics is founded in 2015 by Dr Yu Kai. Horizon Robotics is a leading provider of energy-efficient computing solutions for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving (AD) for consumer vehicles, with the mission to make human life safer and better. As a pioneer to commercialize embedded passenger-vehicle ADAS and AD products in China, Horizon Robotics is committed to enhancing next-generation driving experiences by integrating hardware and software, including low-power hardware computing solutions and open software development tools. By closely collaborating with a community of partners, Horizon Robotics offers products and services that enable an open ecosystem to accelerate the transformation of smart electric vehicles. Dr. Kai YU is Founder & CEO of Horizon Robotics Inc., a company dedicated to developing aritificial intelligence (AI) chips and solutions for AIoT and Automotives. Dr. Yu is an internationally recognized leading researcher in machine learning and deep learning. He led the R&D of artificial intelligence at Baidu from April 2012 to June 2015. He founded Baidu IDL (Institute of Deep Learning), the first AI lab in China industry.

Dr Yu Kai
Dr. Kai YU is Founder & CEO of Horizon Robotics Inc., a company dedicated to developing aritificial intelligence (AI) chips and solutions for AIoT and Automotives. Dr. Yu is an internationally recognized leading researcher in machine learning and deep learning. He led the R&D of artificial intelligence at Baidu from April 2012 to June 2015. He founded Baidu IDL (Institute of Deep Learning), the first AI lab in China industry. His team developed cutting-edge technolgies to transform voice search, computer vision, online advertising and web search, and unprecedentedly won the Baidu Highest Achievement Award for 3 times. In 2013, Dr. Yu launched Baidu autonomous driving project. Dr. Yu has published around 100 papers with more than 17,000 citations. In 2011 as an adjunct faculty, he taught a class “CS121: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” at Computer Sciences Dept. of Stanford University. He has received many awards, including the First Place of ImageNet Challenge 2010，the First Place of PASCAL VOC 2009，and the Best Paper Runner-up Award of ICML-2013. Before joining Baidu, he worked at Microsoft, Siemens, NEC. He received his B.Sc and M.Sc degrees in E&E from Nanjing University, China, and a doctorate degree in Computer Science from University of Munich, Germany.
