Canada cooperative financial group Desjardins Group ($501 billion asset) has announced to buy Canada investment management firm Guardian Capital Group ($119 billion AUM) for $1.2 billion (CAD 1.67 billion) to create a $203 billion asset manager with Desjardins Global Asset Management. Guardian Capital Group was founded in 1962 by Norman Short, Ralph Horner & Alan Grieve as Guardian Management. Desjardins Group – Desjardins Group the largest cooperative financial group in North America and the sixth largest in the world, with assets of $501.3 billion as at June 30, 2025. It has been named one of the top employers in Canada by both Forbes magazine and Mediacorp. It has also been recognized as one of the World’s Best Banks in 2025 by Forbes. The organization has more than 57,200 skilled employees.
