United States private equity firm TA Associates ($65 billion capital raised) is reported to be reviewing to sell bubble tea company Gong Cha at $2 billion valuation.  TA Associates invested in Gong Cha in 2019. Ex-Standard Chartered Banker in Singapore & South Korea now-racing driver & founder of Gong Cha Global Martin Berry (Australia citizen) had turned bubble tea brand Gong Cha into $578 million sales in 2024.  Gong Cha was founded in 1996 by Zhen-Hua (Super) Wu & Ming-Hsi (Frank) in Taiwan with company setup in 2006.  Martin Berry launched Gong Cha in South Korea in 2012, and acquired Gong Cha in 2017 to become Gong Cha Global.  Martin Berry wife Kim Yeo-Jin is also co-founder of Gong Cha Global.  TA Associates – TA is a leading global private equity firm focused on scaling growth in profitable companies.
