United States-Canada waste management company GFL Environmental ($14 billion market value) has announced to buy SECURE Waste Infrastructure for $4.6 billion (CAD 6.4 billion) in cash & share deal (20% Cash, 80% Stock), representing +15.87% premium to closing price (10/4/26). Secure Waste Infrastructure was co-founded in 2007 as Secure Energy Services by Rene Amirault, and rebranded to SECURE Waste Infrastructure in 2025. Secure Waste current market value at $3.6 billion, share price +30.6% YTD, +76.1% last 12 months & +462% last 5 years. Secure Waste Infrastructure – Secure Waste operates a large-scale, diversified waste management platform in Western Canada and North Dakota through its vertically integrated network of assets across over 80 locations, including 12 landfills, 55 waste treatment facilities, 12 recycling facilities, 98 injection wells and 5 transfer stations. Secure Waste has over 2,000 employees, and is currently headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. GFL Environmental – GFL is the fourth largest diversified environmental services company in North America, providing comprehensive solid waste management services from its platform of facilities throughout Canada and 18 U.S. states. GFL has a workforce of more than 15,000 employees across its organization and is currently headquartered in Miami Beach, Florida. In 2025, GFL sold its Environmental Services business for $8 billion but retained a 34% equity interest in the business.
