Singapore Management University (SMU) has hired ex-Prudential Group Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Don Guo as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of $1.2 billion (S$1.54 billion) SMU Endowment Fund, succeeding Harvey Toor who is departing in 2026 June. Don Guo has 28 years of investment & insurance industry experience at Prudential, Catalina Re, XL Capital Assurance & Swiss Reinsurance Company and held senior investment roles including as Group Chief Investment Officer (CIO), CIO for Asia & Europe and CIO for Asia Capital Reinsurance Group. Singapore Management University (SMU) was founded in 2000 in Singapore. SMU Endowment Fund with $1.2 billion AUM (S$1.54 billion) comprises of donations, grants, gifts, testamentary disposition and proceeds from gifts of movable or immovable property and accumulated net income generated thereon. The objectives of this fund include the provision of facilities for teaching, training and research, the advancement and dissemination of knowledge and the promotion of research.
