Brazil investment group Itausa ($28.6 billion market value), Singapore GIC & Brazil sanitation company Equipav Saneamento are reported to be reviewing to buy Brazil water sanitation firm Copasa ($3.9 billion market value). Copasa was founded in 1963 as Companhia Mineira de Água e Esgoto (COMAG). Copasa current market value at $3.9 billion, share price +20.2% YTD, +109.9% last 12 months & +205.0% last 5 years. Copasa – Headquartered in Belo Horizonte, Copasa is among the largest sanitation companies in Brazil. Copasa’s shares are traded on the B3 – Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão, under the code CSMG3, and are part of the Novo Mercado, a segment that demands a greater commitment to transparency and corporate governance rules. According to the Company’s Articles of Association, the company’s core activities are: Potable water supply: collection, treatment and distribution of treated water to the final consumer; Sanitation: collection, transport, treatment and final disposal of sanitary sewage, from the building connection to the final discharge into the environment; Urban cleaning and solid waste management: collection, transport, transshipment, treatment and final disposal of urban waste and waste originating from street sweeping and urban cleaning. In December 2020, Copasa held 640 concessions for the provision of water supply services, serving 11.8 million people through 5.5 million households (consumer units).
