Founder of Bain Capital & World’s Top 10 Largest Private Equity Firm Dies at Age of 80
The founder of Bain Capital, William Bain Jr., has died at the age of 80. Bill had founded Bain Capital in 1984, and is the world’s top 10 largest private equity firm with more than $85 billion AUM today. He was also the mentor of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who was the Chief Executive of Bain Capital and Bain & Company.

Before founding Bain Capital in 1984, he started Bain & Company in 1973, he started Bain & Company, one of the world’s top management consulting firm today. He graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1959 with a degree in History and worked in the University. In 1967, he was recruited to join Boston Consulting Group (BCG) by Vanderbilt alum, Bruce Henderson, who is the founder of BCG.
William Bain Jr. was born on 30th July 1937 in Johnson City in the state of Tennesee in United States, and is survived by his wife, 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
